51 snakes rescued from residential areas in 2 days

With snakes increasingly slithering into residential areas due to soaring temperature in Ramnagar, the Corbett Tiger Reserve administration, Forest department and an organisation working for snakes’ protection launched a joint rescue operation. Led by SDO of Terai western, Manish Joshi; ranger, Dharmanand Sunal and a senior forest officer, Virendra Pandey along with a snake specialist Chandrasen Kashyap who heads the Save the Snake Society, the operation successfully rescued 51 snakes and safely released them into the forest over the past two days. The rescued snakes included 14 cobras, two pythons and 12 red snakes.
