GDMC sanitation workers end strike following secretary’s intervention

The strike of the sanitation workers of the Government Doon Medical College hospital ended on Monday following the intervention made by the Health secretary R Rajesh Kumar. The strike of the workers was affecting the functioning of the biggest medical college hospital of the State.

The secretary summoned the hospital administration in a review meeting at his office on the day.

Kumar severly reprimanded the hospital administration for its failure and warned that any form of laxity in the functioning of the important institute will not be tolerated.

In the meeting, the Secretary took up the issue of salary payments of the sanitation workers. 

He directed that a separate and time bound system of payment of salary of Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited ( UPNL) workers should be ensured.

Similarly, Kumar directed the management of the outsourcing agency Ajmira to give full salary to the workers as mentioned in the tender.

Following the clear orders of the secretary the employee working under the outsourcing agency took back their strike from the evening shift of Monday.

The meeting was attended by director Medical Education Dr Ajay Arya, Principal GDMC Dr Geeta Jain, additional director Dr R S Bisht,deputy medical superintendent Dr Nandan Singh Bisht, representatives of the outsourcing agency and others.
