Unemployed nursing graduates to march to CM residence today

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

To escalate their protest regarding long-standing demands, unemployed nursing graduates under the banner of Nursing Ekta Manch (NEM) will gherao the chief minister’s residence on Monday. It is important to note that these unemployed graduates have been demonstrating at the designated protest site in Ekta Vihar for several days and continued on Sunday as well, marking the 45th day of their protest.

The protesters are advocating for a transparent recruitment process and are calling for selections based on the year-wise seniority of candidates who have completed their qualifying examinations, among other demands. Despite the cold weather, these nursing graduates have continued their protest for more than a month.

According to NEM office bearers, they have been holding continuous protests since December 5 due to their unmet demands. They had earlier met chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat, who assured them that their concerns would be addressed. However, no tangible action has been taken so far, leading to their heightened frustration and decision to march toward the CM residence today. This gherao is expected to involve a large number of unemployed nursing graduates from across the State. Additionally, as part of their protest on the same day, they will conduct a Samuhik Mundan (collective tonsuring).
