The Vigilance department caught an Amin red-handed while he was taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 on Wednesday. The team arrested the accused from Bhatwari camp office of the Public Works department.
According to the officials, the accused Amin identified as Tika Ram Nautiyal was demanding money from a complainant in lieu of forwarding a land compensation file. The land had been reportedly damaged during road construction work. Troubled by the demand, the complainant had informed the Vigilance department.
Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance team laid a trap and caught the Amin while he was accepting the bribe. After the arrest, the Vigilance team questioned him and checked related documents. The Vigilance officials said that investigation was being carried out in the case.
To recall, earlier this month, the Vigilance team had arrested the Haridwar district supply officer Shyam Arya and his assistant Gaurav Sharma while they were taking bribes of Rs 50,000. The money had been demanded from a Ration dealer who had filed a complaint with the Vigilance department. Thereafter, a team from Dehradun had reached the spot, laid a trap and arrested the duo.
