4 temporary wildlife rescue centres set up in Haldwani Forest
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Haldwani In an initiative to address the surging cases of human-wildlife conflict, the Haldwani Forest Division has set up temporary rescue centres in the division’s Nandhaur, Chhakata, Danda and Sharda ranges. The Forest officers said that the main objective of these rescue centres is to provide temporary shelter to the rescued wildlife, provide first aid treatment to the injured wildlife and ensure post mortem of the dead wildlife as per requirement.
“This will enable quick and effective action near the incident site, which will help in saving the lives of wildlife and controlling the conflict situation,” a senior Forest officer said, adding that
essential facilities like first aid arrangements, cages and other equipment for safe capture, trained forest personnel have been provided in these temporary rescue centres set up under the division.
The Forest department is also conducting awareness programmes in coordination with local communities to minimise incidents of human-wildlife conflict.
