Mandi Parishad passes Rs 155 Cr budget

Uttarakhand Mandi Parishad passed a budget worth Rs 155 crore during its 41st board meeting chaired by its chairman, Anil Kapoor. The meeting also decided that the salaries of  the outsourced workers at the mandis would be raised.  To finalise things, a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the finance controller. It was also decided that the board would adopt the model drawn up by the administration for Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited’s (UPNL) outsourced workers.   

In addition to this, the meeting sent proposals to the administration, seeking approval for the creation of more posts in view of its plan to expand its marketing infrastructure.

Kapoor said that they are taking steps to ensure that the consumers get vegetables and fruits among other items at right prices.  With this objective kept in view, the vendors, associated with the mandi committees, would be provided with licenses. Besides, retail counters will be opened at the prominent mandis to sell edible items at cheaper rates to the consumers, the chairman added.
