The Bharatiya Janata Party stated that the special Vidhan Sabha session to be held on Tuesday is a manifestation of the anger felt in Uttarakhand due to stalling of women’s rights. Referring to Congress MLAs, the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that they have a last chance to contradict their central leaders and support the proposal in the interests of women. Failing this, the women will ensure that the Congress is routed in the 2027 elections.

Bhatt said that the stalling of the Nari Shakti Vandhan Adhiniyam in parliament is unforgivable, adding that the Congress and the opposition have never been in favour of empowering women with rights. “They suppressed the women’s reservation issue for the first 60 years while being in office and when it got the bill passed with the BJP’s support in the Rajya Sabha, it was not even tabled in the Lok Sabha. However, there is considerable anger among women considering what the Congress and other opposition parties did in the parliament this time. The special Assembly session today is the last chance for Congress MLAs to stand in favour of women,” the BJP State president said.
