In an effort to address traffic issues including illegal parking in no-parking zones, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) Dehradun Division issued Challans to 157 vehicles during a two-day enforcement drive. The drive was launched on directions of Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement and Road Safety) Anita Chamola, targeting haphazard parking on the roads in the city area.

Chamola informed that the campaign was led by Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Pankaj Srivastava and his team, along with transport tax officer Shweta Rauthan and her team. Several other officials also participated in the campaign. During the two-day operation, a total of 157 vehicles were challaned. This included 54 vehicles parked in no-parking zones and obstructing traffic, while 16 vehicles were impounded. Many individuals found violating traffic rules received information regarding road safety, she informed.

Action was taken against vehicles with oversized or modified wheels, particularly models like the Thar. Under the Motor Vehicles Act, four modified vehicles were challaned, and one was impounded. Such alterations are not only against the rules but also pose a significant threat to road safety, she said.
