CS directs PTCUL to complete underground cabling work in Dehradun before June

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

The chief secretary Anand Bardhan has directed the Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (PTCUL) to complete the road excavation, underground cabling and blacktopping works of the roads in Dehradun by the month of June.

He gave the direction while chairing a meeting with the officers of Power department and district magistrate of Dehradun on the issue of underground cabling of power lines in Dehradun at the State secretariat on Wednesday.

He said that instead of starting work on all fronts simultaneously, PTCUL should concentrate on a few fronts and complete the work within the stipulated time frame. He stated that by deploying more labour in certain areas rather than digging up roads throughout the city, the work will proceed more quickly. This will also minimize inconvenience to the city residents. The CS further said that the work should be completed within the stipulated time frame by maintaining constant contact with the Dehradun DM. He directed the DM Dehradun to monitor the progress of underground cabling on a weekly basis. He stated that permission to begin further work should be granted only after the completion of work at one site.

Principal secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, DM Dehradun Savin Bansal and senior officers of PTCUL were present on the occasion.
