Under fire, Joshi now drives e-scooter to attend cabinet meeting

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

Cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi attended the cabinet meeting held at the secretariat on Wednesday by riding an electric scooter. His decision to use the e-scooter was part of his recent efforts to promote fuel conservation.

Notably, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to save fuel, Joshi chose to leave behind government vehicles and opted for a scooter for short-distance travel recently. This choice was meant to convey the message that large vehicles are unnecessary for short trips. However his effort backfired when it was noticed that insurance for the scooter, which belonged to his staff, had expired on March 27, 2026. Although the minister was unaware of this situation, it quickly became a point of contention.

In what appeared as an attempt to resurrect things, Joshi was seen arriving at the cabinet meeting on an e-scooter on Wednesday.
