Riding e-scooter Joshi conducts surprise inspection of UPNL directorate

After attending the meeting of the State cabinet on Wednesday on his newly purchased electric two- wheeler, cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi conducted a surprise inspection of the headquarters of the Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) riding his electric two wheeler on Friday.
His sudden unannounced arrival created panic in the department. During his visit, Joshi visited various sections of the headquarters and inspected the attendance of employees, working methodology, office operations and management system and took information about various activities from the officials.
Joshi said that in view of the current global situation and the need for adopting fuel conservation measures, the work from home culture will be adopted in UPNL headquarters. Under the system, 50 per cent work will be done from home by the employees. The Minister instructed officers to observe No Vehicle Day on Saturdays and do maximum work online on the day.
He said that promoting a digital working system will not only save fuel but will also help in saving the environment. Joshi appealed to the officers and employees to reduce unnecessary vehicle usage and adopt electric vehicles.
He praised the use of electric two wheelers for postal and other works at the UPNL headquarters and said that such initiative will inspire other departments as well. Joshi added that energy conservation and fuel saving is the need of the hour and for this everyone will have to make collective efforts. UPNL director, major general (retd) Shammi Sabharwal, managing director brigadier ( retd) JNS Bisht and others accompanied the minister.
