Doon University hosts Int’l BRICS Academic Mid-Term Conference

The International BRICS Academic Mid-Term Conference was organized in Doon University on Friday.
The conference saw the participation of delegates from 11 nations, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, and Ethiopia.
The conference was inaugurated by the chief secretary of Uttarakhand Anand Bardhan, vice chancellor of Doon University Surekha Dangwal and others.
The central theme of the conference was ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability’, which reflects the core priority of India’s BRICS Presidency for the year 2026. Hosted in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, the conference placed a special emphasis on themes surrounding resilience and sustainable development.
The event featured three major thematic sessions. These included critical subjects such as green industrial transformation amidst a fragmented global economy, biodiversity conservation through indigenous knowledge systems, and scaling up climate finance for a just green transition.
