Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) will organise two-day BRAIN 3.0 (Boosting Research, Academic, Innovation and Networking) conference on June 26 and 27. Informing this, the vice-chancellor, S K Kashyap outlined the university’s roadmap for enhancing research excellence and fostering innovation-driven growth. “The conference will bring together alumni, scientists, researchers, industry leaders and experts from diverse fields to explore collaborative opportunities and emerging trends in research and technology,” he said.
Highlighting the university’s focus on multidisciplinary research, he said that nearly 45 research proposals have been submitted to various national and international funding agencies. “The future research initiatives would be outcome-oriented, ensuring that scientific advancements directly benefit farmers and society,” he said, adding that the university is actively working in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, seed production, natural farming and organic agriculture.
Dr Kashyap stressed the need to promote patents, research publications, collaborative projects, innovation and technology commercialisation. “Departments have been encouraged to prepare high-quality research proposals and secure funding from external agencies,” he noted.
Discussing contemporary agricultural challenges, he underlined the importance of natural farming, integrated farming systems, balanced fertiliser use, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Integrated Nutrient Management (INM). He also stressed on wider dissemination of scientific technologies at the grassroots level, stating that it is essential for enhancing farmers’ incomes and ensuring sustainable agriculture.
