Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that Uttarakhand holds immense potential for adventure sports activities. He said that the State’s natural conditions are conducive to water sports, mountaineering and adventure sports. The CM inspected the preparations for the International Kayaking and Canoeing Competition to be held in the Gadarpur of Udham Singh Nagar district on Saturday. Dhami said that the State government is making efforts to expand sports facilities and develop modern sports infrastructure.
He stated that the State government’s goal is to give Uttarakhand national and international recognition in the field of sports. He added that international competitions provide a platform for the state’s young athletes to showcase their talent and inspire them to excel globally.
At the venue of the event, the CM inspected the various preparations related to the competition, the facilities being made for the players, security arrangements, technical arrangements, transportation, accommodation and other necessary arrangements.
Dhami directed the officers to ensure that all preparations for the successful organization of the international competition are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with the established standards. He directed all departments to work in coordination to ensure that players, coaches, judges and participants from India and abroad do not face any inconvenience.
He said that such events not only promote sports activities but also give a new impetus to tourism, local businesses, employment and economic activities in the state. The CM said that the State government is working at various levels to bring sports to the masses and encourage youth to participate in sports. He directed the officers to ensure all necessary arrangements including cleanliness, drinking water, medical facilities, security, traffic management and others at the competition venue so that this event becomes an example of the better work culture and hospitality of Uttarakhand.
CM, Pandey boat ride gives message of political bonhomie
DEHRADUN: In his Gadarpur visit, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met the local MLA Arvind Pandey. The duo visited the site of the upcoming International Kayaking and Canoeing Competition and inspected the preparations. The CM and Pandey even had a ride on a motor boat in which Dhami held the steering wheel with Pandey sitting close to him. The meeting between the two leaders assumes significance in the light of recent events in which Pandey was seen putting the State government on the dock on various issues. The political experts point out that the meeting and the bonhomie witnessed indicate that things have been sorted out between the two leaders.
