Uttarakhand a land of Yoga & spirituality: CM Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that Uttarakhand is the land of Yoga, spirituality and place of penance for the saints for many centuries. He participated in the ‘Run for Yoga’ programme at Police Lines on Friday. The programme was organised in view of the 12th International Yoga Day on June 21.
“This event is not just a race, but a powerful campaign to promote healthy living, positive thinking, and yoga. This programme is an important initiative towards increasing public awareness of Yoga and building a healthy society,’’ he said.
The CM said that the rich spiritual tradition and natural environment of Uttarakhand offer humanity the message of health, balance and a positive life. He said that Yoga is India’s ancient cultural heritage, a scientific and life-affirming method that establishes harmony between body, mind and spirit.
Dhami said that Yoga has gained global recognition due to the visionary leadership and efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that in today’s times of increasing stress, depression and various health challenges, Yoga has emerged as an effective means of leading a healthy and balanced life. Dhami said that the State government is continuously working to establish Uttarakhand as a global hub for Yoga, Ayurveda, wellness, and naturopathy. Through the new Yoga Policy, yoga and meditation centres are being encouraged, Yoga instructors are being supported and new employment opportunities based on yoga and wellness are being developed.
Cabinet minister Madan Kaushik, MLA Vinod Chamoli, Mayor Dehradun Saurabh Thapliyal, secretary AYUSH Ranjana Rajguru, district magistrate Dehradun Ashish Chauhan and others attended the programme.
