Govt working to strengthen rural economy & making citizens self-reliant: Chowdhary

The State government is consistently working to strengthen the rural economy, boost self-employment opportunities and make the youth and women self-reliant. All the departments need to ensure the execution of schemes while focusing on quality and targets. The Rural Development and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises minister Bharat Singh Chowdhary said this while chairing a review meeting in Pithoragarh on Monday. He reviewed the progress of works under the Rural Development department, PMGSY, animal husbandry, MNREGA, PM Awas Yojana, National Rural Livelihood Mission and other schemes in the meeting.

Checking the departmental progress reports, the minister directed officials to ensure that the benefit of public welfare schemes reaches the last person in society in a time-bound, transparent and effective manner. Chowdhary said that the progress of development works in the border district of Pithoragarh is satisfactory with most departments working in a responsible manner.Barring a couple of departments, no serious complaint has come to the fore, which shows the positive state of the administrative working system, he said. The minister also directed the departmental officials to maintain the quality of development works, swiftly resolve pending cases and undertake special efforts to provide the benefit of government schemes in remote and border regions. He claimed that the State government’s policies are being executed effectively with the government’s answerability, transparency and sensitivity towards the public also visible clearly.

The officials also informed Chowdhary about the challenges and problems being faced in the execution of schemes, responding to which the minister issued instructions while stressing on swift redressal. The public representatives and officials also gave their suggestions on various aspects related to the district’s development. Gangolihat MLA Fakir Ram Tamta, Pithoragarh mayor Kalpana Devlal, former MLA Chandra Pant, district magistrate Ashish Kumar Bhatgain and others were present in the meeting.
