The leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Yashpal Arya launched a sharp attack on the BJP government while addressing the Congress’ Parivartan Sankalp Yatra congregation in Ramnagar on Thursday, alleging that the government has completely failed on all fronts during its ten-year tenure.
“The spirit of democratic governance is being trampled upon with authoritarianism showing in its worst form,” he alleged, adding that the mountainous villages were being deserted due to a lack of employment and other opportunities. He also mentioned the repeated paper leak cases which, according to him, had shattered the aspirations of the State’s youngsters.
A senior State party leader and former State party president, Karan Mahara appealed to people to rise above caste and religious differences and unite against the anti-people BJP government. “The Parivartan Sankalp conference is being organised to bring the people together for ushering in a regime change in the state,” he declared.
Addressing the meeting, the former MLA Ranjit Rawat alleged that the BJP government’s tenure had been marked by repeated examination paper leaks and mounting unemployment among the youth. “The much-touted Achhe Din promise has proved hollow and the misrule has landed the people across the country, including the State, in difficult times,” he said and added that the Congress was the only party capable of governing the State properly while meeting the growing aspirations of the people.
During the programme, several people had joined the Congress, claimed the Opposition leaders.
