HUDCO strengthens eye care facilities at Vivekananda Netralaya

Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO), under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, inaugurated two advanced ophthalmic systems at Vivekananda Netralaya, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram in Dehradun, on Friday.
The advanced equipment installed under the CSR initiative includes the Alcon Centurion Vision System with Active Sentry, an advanced phacoemulsification system that enhances the safety, efficiency and precision of cataract surgeries and the ZEISS Lumera i Surgical Microscope, which provides superior visualisation for complex ophthalmic procedures.
Among the dignitaries present during the inauguration of the enhanced systems were the regional chief, HUDCO regional office, Dehradun, Sanjay Bhargava; joint general manager, CSR department, HUDCO Corporate Office Vaijayanti Mahabale and deputy general manager, HUDCO Regional Office, Dehradun Abhijeet Sarkar.
In his address, secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Dehradun Swami Asimatmananda highlighted the institution’s commitment to providing affordable eye care and appreciated HUDCO’s support in strengthening the hospital’s ophthalmic infrastructure.
Notably, Vivekananda Netralaya performs nearly 18,000 cataract surgeries annually and provides eye care services to more than one lakh patients every year. The newly installed systems are expected to significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver safer, more precise and advanced ophthalmic care, benefiting patients from Uttarakhand and the Himalayan region, Swami Asimatmananda added.
