A man was caught using a spy camera concealed in his spectacles to illegally record a video inside the Garbh Grih of Badrinath Dham. Any photography or videography is strictly prohibited inside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The man caught by Chamoli police was identified as Mumbai resident Jaiprakash Pandey. Taking cognisance of the matter, the police issued a challan to the person under the Uttarakhand Police Act section 81. To maintain the safety and religious decorum, the police also got him to delete all the illegally taken videos and photographs. In a clip later shared on social media, Pandey is seen apologising for his actions while stating that he had deleted the content which would not be shared by him in any form on social media.
The Chamoli police have appealed to all devotees to follow the rules and guidelines set by the temple administration which also include prohibition of photography and videography in restricted areas. Action will be taken as per the law against anyone found violating the rules, the police said.
