In a shocking incident, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by multiple men in a hotel in Rudrapur. The accused took the minor to the hotel on the pretext of visiting the Water Park in the city, made her drink something laced with an intoxicating substance and then took turns to rape her.
The Rudrapur superintendent of police (City) Uttam Singh Negi said that the incident had happened on July 6. “Rudrapur police have registered an FIR on the basis of the complaint filed by the survivor’s mother,” he added.
As per the complaint, the girl left her home with a female friend to visit the Water Park. While they were waiting for an auto-rickshaw, a young man arrived on a bike. The girl’s friend knew him and introduced him as her cousin. The man allegedly made the minor sit on his bike and took her to a hotel near the toll plaza in Lalpur.
At the hotel, the accused drugged the girl and then raped her, as per the complaint. Later, he called three more men to the hotel and they also assaulted the unconscious girl. The accused kept her captive for the whole night. The next morning, on July 7, they left her outside the hotel. Crying for help, the girl borrowed a phone from a local shopkeeper and called her mother. The mother reached the spot and immediately informed the police.
The SP city Negi said that the investigation has started and the police are collecting scientific evidence. “Raids are being conducted to arrest the culprits. Several teams have been formed for this purpose,” he added.
