FDA collects ghee, honey samples during inspection

The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a surprise inspection at food manufacturing units in the Mohabbewala industrial area of Dehradun on Wednesday to check the quality of food products.
During the drive, the team collected two food samples for laboratory testing. A ghee sample and honey sample were collected following complaints. The officials also issued notices to an ice factory and some manufacturing units during the inspection. The collected samples have been sent to the Food Analysis Laboratory for testing.
The inspection was carried out on the directions of Food Safety and Drug Administration commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey and district magistrate Ashish Chauhan. The assistant commissioner (Food Safety) Manish Sayana and senior food safety officer Ramesh Singh led the inspection under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
Officials said that action will be taken according to the law after the laboratory reports are received. The department said such inspections will continue to ensure that safe and quality food products are available to consumers.
