Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has appealed to the corporate sector to cooperate in the ongoing development journey of Uttarakhand. He said that our religious scriptures also mention the importance of donations to the pilgrimage sites and since Uttarakhand is the abode of gods, the importance of CSR contributions made by corporate houses here, also increases.
The CM made the appeal while addressing the Uttarakhand CSR Dialogue at his residence on Friday. He said being a mountainous and border State the development challenges of Uttarakhand are different from other states. “For us holistic development means not only building roads, buildings and infrastructure, but also establishing a balance between job creation, social development and environmental protection. Therefore, the state needs development that respects the sensitivity of the mountains, protects forests and rivers and provides youth with employment opportunities,’’ he said.
Dhami said that the State government is working for industrial development and for this a Global Investors Summit was organized in 2023. In this summit, the State received investment proposals worth over Rs 3, 56,000 crore and out of which proposals worth Rs one lakh crore have been successfully grounded so far.
The CM stated that the State government has simplified the licensing process to facilitate business by implementing a single-window system. He added that 30 new policies, including the Industrial Policy, Logistics Policy, Start-up Policy, and MSME Policy have been formulated to provide a conducive and secure environment for industries. He added Uttarakhand achieved first place in the country in the NITI Aayog’s Sustainable Development Goals Index.
Terming transparency in governance as key for a good industrial environment, the CM said that for the first time in history, the State government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
He assured the entrepreneurs that the State government is committed to establishing Uttarakhand as the nation’s leading investment-friendly state. He expressed hope that corporate efficiency and the state government’s transparent policies will combine to create a sustainable economy that will set an example for the entire country.
