Uttarakhand to set to State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre

The Uttarakhand government has decided to set up a State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (SCCCC) in the State. Informing about the decision, the chief secretary said that a notification for the centre will soon be issued.  The CS held a meeting with the home secretary and senior officers of police on cybercrime at the State secretariat on Monday.

He said that the setting up of SCCCC will facilitate mutual cooperation between the Centre, State and the districts so that the victims of the cybercrime get quick relief. He said that all the cyber police stations in the State should also be strengthened. The CS said that the 1930 helpline should also be strengthened. He said that the manpower of the 1930 call centre should be increased to reduce the response time of 1930. The CS also stressed on strengthening the e-zero FIR system in the State. He directed that the conversion of e-zero FIR into 100 per cent FIR and its integration with CCTNS should be expedited. 

The CS said that after being subjected to cyber fraud most people are unable to file a timely complaint or take advantage of the money restoration module to get their money back due to lack of information. He called for the police department to be proactive in providing assistance to victims. He said that continuous communication should be made among the public through media and social media to create awareness about the complaint redressal module and the money return module, so that the public can avoid cyber fraud and the victim can get information about what to do in case of fraud.

The CS said that complaints received on the Grievance Redressal Module (GRM) should be resolved within the stipulated time frame. He directed capacity building of officers and employees in the police department, as well as increasing the number of cyber commandos, in view of increasing cybercrime. 

Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, ADG V Murugesan, IG Nilesh Anand Bharne and SSP STF Ajay Singh attended the meeting.
