U’khand’s people don’t want tourist politicians: BJP

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

Targetting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s proposed Uttarakhand visit, Bharatiya Janata Party State spokeswoman Honey Pathak said that the people of Uttarakhand want leaders who serve the public and not “tourist politicians”. She said that Gandhi’s visit is not for the people but is rather an attempt to unite the few remaining workers of the Congress in the State.

“Rahul Gandhi tends to remember Uttarakhand during the elections. He remains absent for five years and remembers the mountains before the polls. This is political tourism rather than public service. The people of Uttarakhand are well aware of such drama. The Congress has completely lost its public base in the State. The party organisation is non-existent, the workers are scattered and the leaders simply post on X while sitting in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi should focus on saving his party.

On the one hand the double-engine government is working with the model of development, employment and good governance while on the other hand, the Congress has nothing more than allegations, confusion and lies. Rahul Gandhi is welcome in Uttarakhand but he should not come with empty hands to deliver hollow speeches,” she said.
