Venue dispute old tactic to divert attention: BJP

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Bharatiya Janata Party has said that the dispute being created by the Congress regarding the venue for its leader Rahul Gandhi’s Dehradun visit is part of its old hackneyed political trick. The Congress’ aim is simply to create a political drama and not to communicate with the students.

The BJP State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Prasad Bhatt if the Congress genuinely intends to hold an honest interaction with students, the venue should not matter. In fact, the Congress itself knows that this whole programme is nothing more than a political gimmick which has nothing to do with the interests of the students. Two days before the NEET exam, the Congress had organised a major event in Jaipur, Rajasthan, which had wasted the precious time of students preparing for this exam. After this, a rally of the Congress national president was organised near an examination centre. This irresponsible step had caused major traffic congestion and disorder which had prevented a number of students from appearing in the exam. At Patna in Bihar, students were left waiting for Gandhi but his summer holiday abroad is far from over,” Bhatt said.

Speaking about the dispute around the programme venue, the BJP State president said that it is part of Congress’ old strategy. Earlier too, a dispute was intentionally raised around Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge’s programme whereas he had already prepared to visit another site. The Congress is repeating the drama this time too to gain sympathy and media coverage, he said.
