Footprints Preschool & Daycare has welcomed the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights’ (KSCPCR) proposal to mandate live CCTV access for parents and uniform safety standards across day-care centres. Notably, the move follows a widely reported safety incident at a Bengaluru daycare that raised concerns about childcare safety. The company said that the proposal should lead to enforceable industry-wide standards rather than temporary reassurance.
As part of its response, Footprints announced three commitments: sharing its child-safety standard operating procedures (SOPs) with regulators and industry bodies, publishing a due-diligence checklist for employers to assess daycare providers and advocating live CCTV access as a basic parental right rather than a premium feature, said the founder and CEO, Footprints Preschool & Daycare, Raj Singhal. He further highlighted that all its centres provide parents with real-time access to AI-monitored CCTV through the ParentConnect app, enabling them to check on their children at any time.
“The real purpose of the years that a child spends in a preschool or daycare is development,” Singhal said, adding that this development is only possible when safety is never in question.
“Safety is an architecture you build from day one.” reaffirming the company’s support for stronger accountability and higher safety standards across India’s childcare sector.
