Sitarganj incident example of administrative failure: Dasauni

The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress, Garima Dasauni has said that the dispute between the Vigilance and Revenue departments in Sitarganj over a raid is an example of the administrative failure and lack of coordination in the State government.
She said that the events that unfolded in Sitarganj have raised serious questions about the State’s administrative system. “On one hand, the Vigilance arrested a collection Amin and senior assistant on charges of bribery, while on the other, the entire Revenue department has come out in protest of this action, claiming that the funds in question were from government revenue and KCC loan recovery,’’ Dasauni said.
The Congress leader said though the State government and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami talk about zero tolerance on corruption but the Sitarganj incident has shown that the government departments are unable to trust each other’s actions.
“This is an example of zero governance. If the vigilance action is correct, then the government should explain how corruption in the department reached this level. And if the Revenue department employees are correct, then who will hold accountable for allegedly implicating innocent employees,’’ she asked.
Demanding a high level inquiry in the incident, Dasauni said that Congress is clear that corrupt officials, regardless of their position, should not be protected at any cost. However, if a government employee has been wrongly implicated without sufficient grounds, equally stringent action should be taken against the guilty officials.
