A retired secretariat officer has approached the Dehradun police with a complaint alleging that he was cheated of Rs 35 lakh in a land deal. The complainant, Beer Singh, has accused Dharampur resident Vinit Kukreti of allegedly selling land in Danda Lakhond by claiming it as his own. The complainant found that the land was Golden Forest land.
According to the complaint, Singh came to know about the land through property brokers. The land, measuring around 1,910 square metres, is located in Danda Lakhond and is identified under several khasra numbers. Singh said he entered into an agreement with Kukreti on January 19, 2026, and paid Rs 35 lakh as advance.
Singh later got the property documents checked through his lawyer. He alleged that the land was connected with Golden Forest and was still recorded in the revenue records in the name of Golden Forest. He also alleged that the property was mortgaged with the Uttarakhand Excise Department and had dues of around Rs 1.31 crore.
The complainant further alleged that Kukreti had told him that the land had already been demarcated. However, when he started construction work, a Municipal Corporation team reached the site and stopped the work. Singh said he tried to contact Kukreti and asked for his money back, but Kukreti allegedly refused to meet him or return the money. The Raipur police have registered the complaint in this case and started investigation.
