A military band performance was organised at Shaurya Sthal in Cheedbagh here on Sunday to mark the 80th Independence Day. The programme paid tribute to the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice while protecting the country. The programme was organised under the aegis of Headquarters, Uttarakhand Sub Area.
The BEG and Centre military bands performed several patriotic and martial songs. The bands played popular tunes such as “Vande Mataram”, “Sare Jahan Se Achcha” and “Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja”. The performances created a patriotic atmosphere at Shaurya Sthal.
More than 300 people attended the event. They included war veterans, their family members, school students, NCC cadets, serving military personnel and their families.
The people present at the programme also paid tribute to the brave soldiers of the country. The military band performance gave the people of Dehradun an opportunity to experience military tradition and patriotic spirit, officials said.
