Man held for alleged rape of Delhi woman

The Patelnagar police arrested a 30-year-old resident of Delhi on Monday after a woman alleged that he had raped her after making her consume alcohol in Dehradun. The case was registered after the woman, a resident of New Delhi, approached Patelnagar police and filed a complaint against the accused.
According to the police, the woman alleged that the accused Sameer Prakash, a resident of Ashok Vihar, Delhi, had brought her to Dehradun from Delhi for sightseeing. She alleged that he had made her consume alcohol and then raped her.
Police registered an FIR against Prakash under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Following the complaint, police recorded the woman’s statement and arranged for her medical examination.
Police said that the accused was taken into custody on Monday and brought to the police station for questioning. He was later arrested after police examined the evidence collected during the initial investigation.
A team comprising woman sub-inspector Shikha Tegrawal and constables Rajdeep Malik and Harish Negi carried out the action. Police said that further investigation into the case is underway.
