A joint meeting of all Anganwadi organisations in Uttarakhand was held here on Sunday under the banner of Anganwadi Karyakartri/Sevika Sanyukt Sangathan Sangh, Uttarakhand. The meeting was presided over by Anganwadi Workers Association president Rekha Negi.
Two major organisations participated jointly — Anganwadi Workers / Sevika / Mini Employees Organisation Uttarakhand led by State president Rekha Negi and Uttarakhand State Anganwadi Workers
Union Dehradun led by national president Sushila Khatri along with all office bearers. According to the office bearers, the main issue discussed was that despite repeated requests to the government regarding problems of Anganwadi workers, none of their issues have been resolved. Various organisations have repeatedly conveyed their demands to the government through protests but to no avail.
They said that the protest was postponed only after assurance by the chief minister that their honorarium would be immediately increased by Rs 140 by the State government. But even after five months, no decision has been taken yet. They further said that the government had earlier announced that Rs 1,00,000 would be given on retirement, but its order has not been issued till date.
The Sangathan has appealed to the government to immediately increase the honorarium and pass an order to provide Rs 10 lakh on retirement. The body has warned that if the honorarium is not increased within a month, all organisations will have to take to the streets, for which the government itself will be responsible.
