The leaders and workers of the Congress party held a peace march outside the Vanantra resort near Rishikesh on the fourth death anniversary of Ankita Bhandari on Friday.
Led by the Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal, the Congress workers paid floral tributes to Ankita Bhandari’s portrait and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
PCC president Godiyal said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should expedite its probe to ensure justice for Ankita Bhandari’s family and that every aspect of the case should be investigated impartially. The chairman of the election campaign committee of Congress party Pritam Singh said that the demand for justice for Ankita is not just a family’s demand but a matter of concern for the people of Uttarakhand.
The chairman of the election management committee, Harak Singh Rawat said that the Congress party will continue to fight for justice in this case and stand firmly with the victim’s family. He said that the investigation process should not be unnecessarily delayed and that the family along with the people of the State, should receive a clear answer in this matter.
Former cabinet minister Shoorveer Singh Sajwan said that the march to Vanantra Resort on Ankita Bhandari’s death anniversary is a peaceful and democratic effort to strongly raise the demand for justice. Former cabinet minister Surendra Singh Negi stated that the Congress party will continue to raise this issue with the public and raise its voice until Ankita’s family receives justice. General secretary (Organization) Rajendra Bhandari said that Ankita Bhandari was daughter of Uttarakhand and her memory remains alive in the hearts of the entire State.
Vice president Suryakant Dhasmana, former MLA Om Gopal Rawat, chief spokesperson Garima Dasauni, Jayendra Ramola, president of SC Cell Madan Lal, Abhinav Thapar, Mahila Congress president Jyoti Rautela and others attended the march.
