Delhi girl held captive in room for refusing illegal demands

The Patelnagar police in Dehradun arrested six persons including three women and rescued one minor while raiding a location where prostitution was allegedly being carried out in a rented accommodation. Women were being brought from Delhi to provide the illegal services. The minor rescued by the police was brought by an accused to Doon on the pretext of a leisure trip to Mussoorie but was instead being forced into prostitution, the police said.
Official sources said that the Patelnagar inspector in-charge received a tip off about prostitution involving some men and women being carried out at Neelkanth Enclave in Harbhajwala area. The police raided a home in the area where they found seven persons including three women, three men and one minor in an objectionable condition. Two of the accused men are from Delhi, one from Dehradun while three accused women are from Delhi.
The police said that during questioning, it was revealed that accused local resident Manish Kumar Lakheda had taken the home on rent to run a prostitution racket calling women from Delhi. He used to contact clients by phone and send photos of the women on WhatsApp. Based on the clients’ demand, he used to call the women from Delhi and arrange for them to meet at the rented home or the location stated by the client.
Another accused Abhishek had brought the minor to Dehradun on the pretext of a leisure trip to Mussoorie. She was being forced to enter into prostitution but on her refusal, the accused had held her captive in a room, police said. Officials further informed that accused Lakheda had been to jail once in the past for immoral trafficking.
The police have registered a case under various sections of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
