The Chaturth Kedar Rudranath Dham was ceremoniously closed for the winters on the weekend. Devotees will now be able to pay their obeisance to Bhagwan Rudranath at the Gopinath Mandir in Gopeshwar for the next six months. On Sunday, the lord’s Doli left for his winter abode amid police presence.

It will stay the night at the Jwala Mandir in Devaldhar and reach the Gopinath Mandir on Monday. The Rudranath temple is situated in a rocky cave at an altitude of 11,800 feet. The face of lord Shiva is worshipped at this temple, which is surrounded on all sides by Bugyals (high altitude alpine meadows).
