Doon police launched another verification drive in Patel Nagar following directives from the senior superintendent of police (SSP). Multiple police teams conducted checks on non-local residents and those with criminal backgrounds living within the Patel Nagar police station limits.
After irregularities were found during the campaign, 35 house owners were challaned under Section 83 of the Police Act and fined Rs 3.50 lakh.
Dehradun’s SSP ordered all stations to screen local criminals and outside residents, urging strict legal action against law-breakers.
The main areas where the drive was conducted included Kotwali area, Lohia Nagar, Chamanpuri, Brahmapuri and Mehuwala.
During the campaign, the police teams physically verified more than 400 tenants/outsiders as well as 10 crime accused out on bail. They were warned of strict legal action if found involved in any criminal activities again.
