To ensure the timely and quality completion of Ardh Kumbh Mela 2027 preparations, divisional commissioner Anand Swaroop has directed officials to speed up construction. During a review meeting at the Mela Control Building (CCR), he prioritised roads, bridges and ghats and urged contractors to increase the workforce for round-the-clock operations. He warned that deviation from quality would not be tolerated.
He, in particular, directed the Public Works Department, Irrigation Department, Jal Sansthan and Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority to regularly monitor the progress of the ongoing works.
Upon noticing the delay in the supply of bitumen for asphalting the roads, he spoke to the officials of Indian Oil Corporation and asked them to ensure the supply on priority basis. Emphasis was also laid on completing the NHAI projects and the construction of the footpaths of Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi temples before the commencement of the congregation.
Before the meeting, Swaroop conducted a site inspection of the North of Har Ki Pauri Redevelopment Project in Pantdweep, proposed Kumbh camp sites in Bairagi Camp, HRDA beautification works in Kankhal and the ongoing construction works from Singhdwar to Amarpur Ghat.
He directed to complete the construction and maintenance works of the ghats on war footing during the Ganga Canal closure period and to make foolproof arrangements for the safety of the devotees.
