Thirty-six senior citizens from Dehradun will undertake a four-day pilgrimage to Badrinath Dham from October 27 under the Deendayal Matri-Pitri Teerthatan Yojana, with arrangements for accommodation, meals and refreshments to be provided throughout the journey. The district Tourism development officer (DTDO) Jaspal Chauhan said that the pilgrims had been asked to report to Hotel Drona at 15 Gandhi Road in Dehradun at 7 AM on October 27. They must carry their Aadhaar cards, other identity documents and necessary personal belongings.
As per the itinerary, the group will stay overnight at Jyotirmath on the first day. On October 28, the pilgrims will travel to Badrinath Dham, where accommodation and meals will be arranged at the Yatri Niwas.
The group will leave Badrinath on October 29 and stay at Shrikot before returning to Dehradun on October 30 via Rishikesh.
Chauhan has requested the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) to ensure proper arrangements for food, refreshments and accommodation during the pilgrimage. Hotel Drona has also been directed to arrange food and refreshments for all 36 participants before their departure.
The scheme facilitates pilgrimage for senior citizens, enabling them to visit religious destinations with travel and stay arrangements coordinated by the authorities.
