The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) demolished illegal plotting spread across around 60–65 bighas at five locations in Doiwala on Monday. The authority also sealed two commercial establishments at Maggi Point and Purukul Road for carrying out construction in violation of approved building plans as part of its drive against unauthorised development.

The MDDA team conducted the demolition drive at Ghisarpatti, Bullawala Road, Kudkawala and Kamboj Colony, officials said. The illegal plotting was being carried out without approved layout plans and the required permissions.

At Ghisarpatti, plotting spread across 15–20 bighas of land was demolished. Another 10 bighas of illegal plotting near BSF House in Kudkawala was also removed. The authority took action against plotting on around five bighas in Bhagat Singh Colony, Bullawala and 30–35 bighas in Kamboj Colony.

Meanwhile, the MDDA sealed an unauthorised commercial construction belonging to Jagdish Chauhan at Maggi Point. It also sealed construction at Eden Wellness and Hospitality on Purukul Road, where work was allegedly being carried out in violation of the approved building plan.

The MDDA vice chairman Banshidhar Tiwari said that the drive against illegal plotting and unauthorised construction would continue to ensure planned development in Dehradun and surrounding areas.

The MDDA secretary Mohan Singh Barnia said that the action was being taken based on complaints and site inspections. He appealed to people to check approved layout plans and legal permissions before purchasing land or plots.
