Jal Nigam has accelerated its work in preparation for the upcoming Ardh Kumbh, dividing the project into permanent and temporary phases. Executive engineer Rajesh Gupta confirmed that all eight projects, assigned to the department, are now 100 per cent complete.

Asked to share the permanent works they have done, he mentioned five infiltration wells (I-wells).  “These included a 1,500 KL tank in the camp area. Additionally, there are two pipeline projects: laying approximately 1,200 meters of new line and replacing three kilometers of old line. All of these have been completed and are ready for the fair,” he stated.

Sharing details about the status of the assigned temporary works, he said that they had been assigned with
a total of 12 temporary works. “The government orders have been issued for nine of them and work has begun on the ground. These are all pipeline laying projects in parking and camping areas, spread across Gauri Shankar, Dakshdweep, Laljiwala, Neeldhara, Pantdweep, Haridwar, Mayapur and Chandi Devi. Tenders have been issued for the remaining three works and work will begin this week as soon as government orders are received,” he shared.

Speaking of the water availability this time, the official said that a tank with a storage capacity of 1500 KL (1.5 million liters) is being built.  “Two tube wells are proposed, which will provide two MLD of water each, or a total of four million liters per day. Additionally, five new infiltration wells will provide 2.5 MLD of water each, or a total of 12.5 MLD. Cleaning of old infiltration wells, built in 2016 and 2021, has also begun and water will be drawn from them as well,” he said.

Gupta asserted that the permanent construction work has been completed 100 per cent, while the target for completing the temporary works has been set as December 31. “But the department is determined to complete all the assigned works by December 15,” he stated.
