Asked to vacate hotels; GDMC staff takes offence

The district administration had booked three hotels for stay of hospital staff during lockdown

Agitated by what they termed sudden orders by the hospital administration to leave the hotels in which they are staying from the last few months, some of the nursing staff held a demonstration outside the hotel on Wednesday.

During the lockdown period the district administration of Dehradun had made arrangements for stay in hotels for the doctors, nurses and other staff members of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital. On Wednesday some of the nursing staff members took offence when the hotel authorities asked them to vacate the rooms. They later went to the administrative block of the medical college and expressed their resentment on the order. One member said, “We are not enjoying our stay in the hotel. This arrangement was done by the administration so that our family members are safe. Today without giving any prior information we were asked to vacate the hotel.’’

The Principal of GDMC Dr Ashutosh Sayana put up the issue before the district magistrate who ordered that the staff members of the hospital would continue to avail the benefit of hotel stay and they would be served prior notice for vacating the rooms.
