Lack of buses hindering connectivity in remote areas
36 out of 42 towns of Nagar Panchayat level are connected with the bus services- Transport minister
The transport minister Yashpal Arya informed the assembly that due to limited availability of buses it is not possible for the Uttarakhand transport corporation to start bus services from remote places located in mountainous areas.
In response to a question by Kedarnath MLA Manoj Rawat, the minister informed that 310 buses are operational from remote areas of the state to bring passengers to Dehradun, Roorkee, Haridwar, Haldwani, Nainital and Delhi. He said that 36 out of 42 towns of Nagar Panchayat level are connected with the bus services. He said that bus services to the remote areas unconnected with the services would start only when new small buses are made available to the UTC.
