136th Foundation Day; Cong takes out Tiranga Yatras
Party played a key role in freedom struggle and building a strong India: PCC President
The Congress party celebrated its 136th foundation day by organising many programmes in the state on Monday. The party took out ‘Tirgana Yatras’ in all the district headquarters. In Dehradun the Yatra was taken out under the leadership of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh. The Yatra started from Congress Bhawan and ended at Clock Tower. Earlier in the day, the PCC president unfurled the flag of the party at its state headquarters. Addressing the party workers and leaders, Pritam Singh said that the Congress is the oldest political party and has a long cherished history. He said that the party played a key role in the freedom struggle and its leaders gave many sacrifices. The PCC president said that leaders like Jawahar Lal Nehru and Sardar Patel helped in laying the foundation of a strong and independent India. He added that Prime Ministers such as Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, P V Narsimha Rao and Manmohan Singh helped the country attain dizzy heights. He said that Sonia Gandhi provided leadership to the party in the tough situation and helped it in returning to power and now everyone is hoping that a similar feat would be accomplished by Rahul Gandhi. He said that the Congress workers should take a pledge that the path to return of power of the party to centre would start from Uttarakhand in 2022. The PCC president said that the Congress party is standing shoulder to shoulder with the farmers who are agitating against the draconian farm laws.
The Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana said that every Congress worker takes pride in the history of the party.
The PCC president himself held the flag post in the Tiranga Yatra. The former Minister Hira Singh Bisht, Surveer Singh Sajwan, former secretary of AICC Prakash Joshi, Aryendra Sharma, general secretary organisation Vijay Saraswat, Rajendra Shah, P K Agarwal, Navin Joshi, Mahesh Joshi, former MLA Rajkumar, Garima Dasauni and others participated in the Yatra.
