MCD elects new six members for the executive committee

Six new members for the executive committee of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) were elected with the mutual agreement of all the counsellors on Thursday. Out of the total 12 members of the executive committee, six old members were eliminated first as per the norms by the lottery system while the six new members were elected by the board members.

Talking about the election and elimination of the members of the executive committee, Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ stated that the corporation adopted a lottery system as an unbiased means to eliminate six members. The counsellors which got eliminated from the committee this year were Rakesh Machkola, Abhishek Pant, Alok Kumar, Archana Pundir, Swati Dobhal and Urmila Thapa.

Moreover, the newly elected members of the committee have four BJP counsellors that include Anita Garg from the ward six, Satender Nath from ward 11, Sushila Rawat from ward 58 and Ramesh Kala from ward 38 while two Congress counsellors including Sachin Thapa from ward 96 and Meena Bisht from ward 28. It is pertinent to mention here that out of 12 executive committee members, only three members belong to Congress party while the remaining nine members belong to BJP party.
