U’khand receives 4th consignment of Covid-19 vaccine
193500 doses of Covishield arrive in Dehradun airport. 74 % of healthcare workers vaccinated so far
The fourth consignment of the Covishield vaccine for protection against the contagion of Covid-19 arrived at Dehradun airport, Jollygrant on Thursday. The consignment has 193500 doses of the vaccine. The state immunisation officer, Dr Kuldeep Singh Martolia received the consignment of the vaccines on behalf of the health department at the airport.
The consignment was transported in a special vehicle to the state vaccine store in Chandar Nagar. Dr Martolia said that the vaccines would be administered on all front line workers and the health workers who have not received the vaccine jab yet. He said that 74 percent of health workers have so far received the vaccine jabs and soon all the health workers would be administered the vaccine.
The director of National Health Mission (NHM), Dr Saroj Naithani said that the distribution of the vaccine doses for the districts has been done and it would be ensured that the vaccines reach their destination in time. She said that a total of 181205 health care workers and frontline health workers have so far got registered on the CoWin portal for vaccination. She said that the 398651 vaccine doses received from the centre are being administered to the registered health care workers and front line workers. Dr Naithani said that as per the directive of the union government, the registration of the employees of revenue and Panchayati Raj would be registered at CoWin portal from February 17. The state had received the first consignment of 1.13 lakh vaccines on January 13. The union government has provided the state with Covishield, the vaccine developed by Oxford University- AstraZeneca and manufactured in India by Serum Institute of India (SII).
