Cong to hold major protest rallies in U’khand
First Jan Akrosh Rally to be organised in Srinagar on March 14
Stepping up the tempo set by staging of Padh Yatras (foot marches) in protests against rising prices in all districts and blocks, the Uttarakhand Congress has planned a series of protest rallies in different parts of the state. The first rally in the series of six such rallies named ‘Jan Akrosh Rally’ would be organised in Srinagar Garhwal on March 14. The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress, Surya Kant Dhasmana told media persons at Rajiv Bhawan here on Thursday that the people of Uttarakhand are fed up with the anti people policies of the incumbent state BJP government as in the last four years, the prices are on the rise and the unemployment is at all time high.
The development is on standstill and the farmers are agitated. He said that the state unit of the party has decided to hold six large rallies in the state to express the resentment the general public has against the government. Dhasmana said that under the leadership of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh, three rallies would be held in Garhwal and Kumaon division each. “The first rally would be held at Srinagar on March 14 and on March 25 second rally would be organised at Haldwani. The dates of Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, Rudrapur and Dehradun would be declared later,’’ he said.
The party claims that the In-charge of Uttarakhand Congress Devendra Yadav, PCC president Pritam Singh, former chief minister and general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Harish Rawat, leader of opposition (LoP) in state assembly Indira Hridayesh and other senior leaders of the party would participate in these rallies.
