Badrinath MLA offers his seat to Tirath Singh Rawat
The CM constituency status would boost development in the border constituency: Mahendra Bhatt
The BJP MLA from Badrinath assembly constituency, Mahendra Bhatt has offered to vacate his assembly seat for the chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat. Bhatt met the CM at his residence on Thursday morning and made the offer. Later talking to The Pioneer, the MLA said that his constituency is located in the remote border area and if the CM accepts his request then it would be beneficial for the people. “Badrinath assembly seat is part of Garhwal Lok Sabha from where Tirath Singh Rawat is the Member of Parliament. Everyone knows him well and he would win by a big margin from here. The development would receive a big boost in the area if the CM accepts my request and represents the seat in the assembly,’’ he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the CM Rawat is at present MP from Garhwal parliamentary seat and since he is now the CM and leader of the BJP legislature party he would have to become a member of assembly within six months. On Wednesday the former cabinet minister Satpal Maharaaz had denied speculation on him vacating his Chaubattakhal assembly seat for the CM. Maharaaz was offered a ticket by the BJP from Chaubattakhal assembly seat in the elections of 2017 by denying the claim of Tirath Singh Rawat who then was the sitting MLA from there. Maharaaz won from Chaubattakhal and was made a cabinet minister in Trivendra Singh Rawat’s cabinet while Tirath Singh Rawat contested and won from Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency in 2019.
