Transport Dept to approach CSC e-Governance Services for new CSC
The Uttarakhand Transport Department would allow the operation of the Common Service Centre (CSC) outside the regional transport office in Dehradun only if the state head of CSC e-Governance Services India Limited allows the operation of the centre as per the conditions of the department. The regional transport officer (RTO) Dinesh Pathoi said this while talking to The Pioneer. According to him, the department had received many complaints about cyber cafes overcharging those locals who are not quite familiar with computers as the license registration is done through online mode. To facilitate this service at minimal rates, the RTO has decided to approach the state CSC e-Governance Services for the operation of the centre outside the regional transport office in the city, said Pathoi. “We will soon send a letter to the state head of CSC e-Governance Services India Limited citing certain conditions required for the operation of the common service centre,” added Pathoi. He said that the department wants the centre to be operated efficiently as per the requirement of people on the basis of which, they have cited certain conditions in the letter.
Meanwhile, ARTO, Dwarika Prasad informed that the transport office had increased the slots for online license registration. Earlier, the RTO was issuing only 90 slots for learner’s license per day which was about 150 slots every day during pre-Covid times. Now, the daily slot for learner’s license registrations has reached 125. However, the RTO has surpassed the numbers of slots issued for the permanent driving license before the Covid-19 pandemic. While the RTO was issuing about 160 slots before the lockdown last year, this number has now reached 175 slots every day. According to officials, the backlog that occurred due to the pandemic will also be cleared in the next few days in the transport office.
