Another MoU signed to develop Badrinath into smart spiritual hill town
The Shri Kedarnath Utthan Charitable Trust (SKUCT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited as part of which the corporation has committed to contribute Rs 19.3 crore for the development projects at Badrinath.
The MoU was signed between the State’s Tourism secretary Dilip Jawalkar and Powergrid chairman and managing director K Sreekant.
As per the MoU, the amount shall be used for the construction of a 2.5 kilometre long and 10.5 metre wide road for efficient traffic management, facade enhancement of public and Devasthanam Board buildings, battery-operated public transport system, installation of property and wayfinding signages, ambient lighting and drainage management.
Speaking on the occasion Jawalkar said, “Badrinath Dham is one of the most sought-after destinations of Uttarakhand and attracts pilgrims from all over the world. Uttarakhand government is working in alignment with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and actively involved in the overall development of the city’s infrastructure. We are also ensuring that all the development projects are environment friendly and further aid in boosting the employment opportunities for the locals.”
He further informed that MoU’s worth about Rs 200 crore are signed with various Public Sector Units (PSUs) to develop Badrinath as a smart spiritual hill town under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The project is estimated to be completed within the time duration of three years. It is also expected that the project will benefit nearly 15.6 lakh pilgrims every year visiting Badrinath from 2025 onwards.
