Jhanda Mela: 90 % of devotees leave for homes

The effect of the contagion of Covid-19 and the restriction imposed by the authorities is having a bearing on the number of the devotees at Jhanda Mela. After witnessing the hoisting of the holy flag pole on Friday which marks the beginning of the Mela most of the devotees returned back to their respective places on Saturday.  

The senior Public Relations Officer (RPO) of Darbar Sahib, Bhupender Raturi informed that 90 percent of the ‘Sangat’ devotees who had come from different parts of India have returned after the raising of the holy flagon Friday.

On Saturday the devotees took blessings from the Mahant Devendra Dass .  

The Mahant in his address urged the ‘Sangat’ to come forward for leading an ideal life, caring for the environment, de-addiction and getting rid of the social evils. He also delivered knowledge about attaining ‘Moksha’ and being free from life and death cycle. He said that all must ensure their roles in nation building by being an ideal person and ideal family. He also delivered the ‘Guru Mantra’ and told the significance of ‘Guru Mahima’ to the devotees.
