Two beam radiotherapy centre starts at Himalayan hospital

The Vice Chancellor (VC) of Himalayan University, Vijay Dhasmana inaugurated the two beam radiation centre at Cancer Research Institute (CRI) of Himalayan hospital, Jollygrant on Monday. The hospital claims that the centre has the first two beam radiotherapy machine of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhasmana said that now the patients of Uttarakhand would not have to travel outside the state for two beam radiotherapy. He said that the state of the art machine would also ensure reduction in the waiting list of the patients needing radiotherapy. The radiation oncologist of the CRI Dr Meenu Gupta said that the two beam is an advanced radiotherapy system which treats complex cancer. The machine is highly specific and influences only the cancer affected area.
The director of CRI Dr Sunil Saini, Dean Dr Mushtaq Ahmed , registrar Dr Vineet Mahrotra and others were present on the occasion.
